Outgoing WB Country Director Cites Progress and Reforms in DepEd
MANILA, July 4, 2007 – Outgoing World Bank Country Director, Joachim von Amsberg, cited the reform progress in the Department of Education (DepEd) that have brought gains to the Philippine Government and the millions of Filipino schoolchildren. LOGOFIND expands and upgrades the basic infrastructure, services and facilities of participating LGUs
and strengthens their capabilities in municipal governance, investment
planning, revenue generation, and project development and
implementation.
WDDP helps participating local governments and water districts plan and implement sewerage
and sanitation investments and assists the Government in developing transparent regulatory
mechanisms to facilitate private sector participation in water utilities.
LGUUWSP seeks to assist water utilities to improve their operational efficiency and accountability to consumers,
facilitate private sector participation, and leverage financial flows into the water and sanitation sector.
TEEP aims to: a) build the institutional capacity of the Department of Education (DepEd)
to manage the change process, and b) improve the learning achievements,
completion rates and access to quality elementary education in 26 poor
provinces.
