Outgoing WB Country Director Cites Progress and Reforms in DepEd
MANILA, July 4, 2007 – Outgoing World Bank Country Director, Joachim von Amsberg, cited the reform progress in the Department of Education (DepEd) that have brought gains to the Philippine Government and the millions of Filipino schoolchildren. Philippines: $5-M Grant to Improve Water Pollution Control In Metro Manila
MANILA, June 26, 2007 – A US$5 million grant from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) for the Manila Third Sewerage Project (MTSP) was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Directors. The grant aims to identify much-needed changes in policies and practices in order to attract private investments in the country’s wastewater sector. It will also help increase the effectiveness of the agencies responsible for water pollution control through improved coordination as well as promote innovative, simple and effective wastewater treatment techniques. This additional grant funding will complement the World Bank-assisted MTSP. Full
